Virginia Williams, born Viola May Kallas on September 12, 1931, was a woman who sprinkled love, laughter, and a dash of stubbornness into every encounter. Her journey began in Tacoma, WA, and spanned 93 years, leaving behind a legacy that is as colorful and varied as the many meals she lovingly prepared for her family and friends. Virginia, known affectionately as 'Grandma Ginger,' was a master in the kitchen who expanded waistlines while maintaining a bird-like appetite herself. Her adventurous spirit led her on many journeys, from the islands of Hawaii to the serene landscapes of Snoqualmie Pass. Her compassionate nature extended to all, including her beloved pets and anyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Virginia was a thoughtful homemaker who turned her residence into a haven of love and laughter for 36 years. She was a believer in 'retail therapy', and her shopping excursions were legendary. Yet it was during the holidays when Virginia's loving nature truly shone. She went above and beyond to create long lasting memories for her family, especially her grandchildren. Her knack for making each holiday a special occasion will be a cherished memory for all who knew her. As someone once said, "The secret ingredient is always love," and Viola embodied that sentiment in every aspect of her life.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn Kallas, and her beloved husband, Robert Williams and Ron Degraffenreid (Son). Virginia is survived by Robert Decubber (Son), Kathy Peterson (Daughter), Terry Boyle (Son) and James Roland (Son). The family invites you to join them for a graveside inurnment on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 9:30am PST at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 Southeast 240th Street, Kent, Washington, 98042. As we bid farewell to Virginia, let us remember her as the adventurous, compassionate, thoughtful, and loving soul she was. A quote by Maya Angelou comes to mind, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Virginia's warmth and love will be remembered forever.
