Mrs. Virginia E. Woody, of Benton, Tennessee passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 83 years old.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Woody and Jerry Pike at a later date.
Mrs. Woody was born April 1, 1941, in Polk County, TN to the late Grady Barnett and Beadie Plumley. Mrs. Woody was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant for several years around Polk, Bradley, and McMinn Counties. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and cooking for her family. Mrs. Woody was a very spirited and was a very caring lady to all who knew her.
A special Thank You to all that helped with Mrs. Woody’s care the past few years.
Mrs. Woody was preceded in death by her parents, also a grandson Bradley McGuire and her sister Stella Mae Swafford and brothers Grady Barnett, Jr., and Jerry Barnett.
Survivors include her children, Johnnie Diane Vaughn and special friend Chris Calfee, of Benton, TN, Frank Edward Couch, Jr (Ruth), Benton, TN, Susan Renee Couch, Athens, TN, Monica Annette McGuire, Decatur, TN, and Theresa Nicole Woody and a special friend Gene Pike, of Benton, TN; grandchildren, Michael Vaughn, Benton, TN, Jeff McNeely (Misty), Decatur, TN, Alex McGuire, Decatur, TN, Angelia Wooley (Michael), Athens, TN, Jason Pike, Athens, TN, and Taylor McGuire (Irish), Decatur, TN; several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be having a celebration of life at her home on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 3:00 PM.
