CAVATAIO, VITO JOSEPH Age 86 May 31, 2025. Beloved husband of Sharon. Loving father of Jason (Kristin) Cavataio & Julie Cavataio. Proud grandfather of Vito & Connor. Dearest brother of Thomas (Sue) Cavataio & Marti (the late Tom) Loftus. Vito was a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 3042 Eastpointe.
Vito was born and raised on Detroit's Eastside. He was a man of quiet strength, deep integrity, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was a graduate of Saint Joseph Catholic high school. Vito answered the call to serve his country in 1962 joining the US Navy during the Cuban missile crisis aboard the USS constellation. His service was a source of lifelong pride.
In 1964, Vito met the love of his life, Sharon. Their marriage of 60 years was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and shared joy. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with adventure, laughter, family, and friends.
Vito enjoyed a successful career as a national sales manager where his easy-going demeanor and genuine care for others made him not only respected but deeply admired. He had a gift for putting people at ease and was known for being an excellent salesperson and a true gentleman.
In retirement, Vito found joy living on the lake where he spent his days boating, fishing, golfing, and traveling. But nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with family, especially his grandsons who's hockey games he never missed. He was their biggest fan and proudest supporter.
A lifelong Michigan fan. Vito cheered on his team with passion and pride, and he was also immensely proud of his children's accomplishments always celebrating their successes with quiet pride and heartfelt encouragement.
Vito's legacy is one of kindness, loyalty and love. He was a genuine soul who touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sharon, his cherished children and grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends who will forever remember his wisdom and unwavering support.
