Beyond his career, Vito's contributions included Military Service as he was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War and served from 1968 to 1970. Upon his retirement, Vito enjoyed spending quality time with his family. Vito’s family took precedence in his life as he found tremendous joy in attending his grandchildren's sporting events and savoring meals at various restaurants. His love for motorsports was exemplified in his passion for watching NASCAR.

Vito was known for his impressive skills as a handyman. He was a master craftsman capable of building a home which he did for his family in the early 80's. His love for auto mechanics began as a teenager and continued into his adulthood as he could perform everything from paint to rebuilding engines. Additionally, his talent extended to dog training as he took pride in teaching his beloved pets an array of tricks.
