Vito Pellitteri, 64, of Valdosta, died on Monday, March 31, 2025, at his home. He was born in Miami, FL to the late Vito & Mary Pellitteri, on January 23, 1961. Growing up in Miami, he graduated from Deerfield Beach Senior High School in 1979. After high school, he was working as an assistant manager at Arby’s when he met the former Terrie Marston, they started dating and were married on June 18, 1983. The Pellitteri’s then moved to Titusville, FL where they began their family. In 1987, they moved to Valdosta and Vito started working at Valdosta State Prison as a corrections officer. He worked there until retirement in 2004 but soon started working for Lowndes County Schools as a bus driver. Vito retired from driving the bus in 2023, during his life he was very active with the Knights of Columbus and helped many kids through the Foster Parent System. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Terrie Pellitteri of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Vito & Brittany Pellitteri of Suwanee, GA, daughter Felicia Pellitteri of Douglas, daughter and son-in-law, Nichole & Blake Hersey of Douglas, son Michael Pellitteri of Douglas; five grandchildren, Will, Eli & Anna Pellitteri of Suwanee, Mary Jo & Roe Hersey of Douglas. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kenneth Pellitteri of Douglas, Roger & Sharon Pellitteri of Sumter, SC; and a sister and brother-in-law, Randi & Tommy Ware of Valdosta; a nephew, Jaxon Minter, and several other nieces and nephews. Vito is preceded in death by a brother Vincent Pellitteri.
A memorial visitation will be held for Vito on Thursday evening, April 3, 2025, from 5 until 7 pm at Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital, at www.stjude.org. Condolences may be conveyed to the family on the obituary page of www.mclanecare.com.
