Vivian Bartley Obituary

VIVIAN RUTH BARTLEY Vivian Ruth Bartley (Thiessen), 88, of Newton, Kansas, passed away on November 9, 2025. She was born on September 14, 1937, in Newton, Kansas, to Herbert G. Thiessen and Leona (Bolin) Thiessen. On May 3, 1958, she married Albert Lee Bartley Jr., and together they shared 47 years of marriage until his passing in 2005. Vivian was a loving homemaker and faithful Christian whose life was filled with devotion to God and her family. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies and crafts. Christian music was an important part of her life, and she found great joy in playing piano and singing with family and friends. She was always ready to help others in times of need, offering gentle hands and a compassionate heart. Her kindness brought many smiles to those who knew her. She will be greatly missed, but she has gone home to be with the Lord, reunited with her loving husband. She is survived by her children: Roger Bartley of Lacey, Washington; Kevin Bartley of Vancouver, Washington; Janine Chambers and husband Kevin of Renton, Washington; her brother, Ivan Thiessen, and wife Dorothy of Moundridge, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Thiessen, and her son, Greg Bartley of Vancouver, Washington. A visitation will be held at Petersen Funeral Home from 5 to 9 on Thursday, November 13th. A graveside will be taking place at Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, KS, on Friday, the 14th at 11:30 a.m., which is on E Taylor Ave.
