Cremation Society of New Hampshire - BoscawenVivian Elaine Clark, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Vivian was raised in Washington, NH, by her parents, Marjorie and Abner Barker. She and her late husband, Bob, later moved from Concord to Washington to build a beautiful home and farm, where they raised their three children. “High on the Hog Farm” was adorned with lovely gardens and farm animals, and Vivian's pride and joy was her Raspberry patch.
Vivian was an EMT on the Washington Rescue Squad in the 80’s and was proud of the times she was able to help her fellow neighbors and the community.
Together with her husband, they formed the Washington Snowmobile Club and spent many hours building and maintaining trails, planning club dances, and organizing fundraising events. Vivian started the Annual Washington Fishing Derby and Flea Market, in which she dedicated a significant amount of her time each year, planning, organizing and collecting awards and prizes from other local businesses.
Vivian will be remembered by many as the face of The Corner Store, which they ran for 28 years. From baking muffins and cooking burgers to filling propane tanks and selling kegs, her favorite part was registering fishermen and hunters and checking in deer at the check-in station. She loved listening to the hunters tell their excited stories and adding their names to the charts that covered the walls of the store.
Vivian was the epitome of community service and spirit.
Her three children survive her: her son, Michael Robert Clark, and his wife, Nancy, of Keene, and their daughter, Vivian's granddaughter, Alexis Jaquelin Clark. Her daughter Eileen Marie Houghton of Hopkinton, her son and Vivian's loving grandson, Garrett Alexander Houghton, with wife Stephanie of Hillsboro, NH. Her daughter, Deborah Vivian Sargent and Ronald of Bennington, NH. She is also survived by six siblings: Roberta Hair, Gwendolyn Gaskell, Beverly, Phillip Barker, Ray Barker, and Carl Barker and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Camp Morgan Lodge in Washington, NH.
