Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home on Sep. 30, 2024.
LACONIA ---- Vivian Marie (Houle) Doherty, 84, of Mile Hill Road, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Vivian was born on September 30, 1939, in Wallagrass, ME, the daughter of the late Antonio Houle and Gladys (Labbe) Houle. She was one of 10 children.
Vivian retired from her work at AT&T after 35 years of service as a telephone operator. Vivian was a member of the Elks Lodge #0876 and the VFW Post 1670 Auxiliary. Vivian's many interests were sharing stories with her family and friends, playing cards, going to clubs and casinos, and enjoying the sunshine. For years she was very involved with her son playing sports and later on watching her two grandsons play. She rarely missed attending a game. Vivian was a good cook and her grandsons will attest that, "Mimi was the best cook." Vivian loved playing cribbage especially with her son and grandsons and in the cribbage league at the VFW.
She leaves behind her husband and soulmate of 68 years, retired Police Captain, Donald John Doherty; son Donald James Doherty and his wife Judy; grandchildren Connor Doherty and Carter Doherty, the beloved family dog Poncho, the granddogs Brodie and Vinny; her brother Hubert Houle and his wife Donna; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Vivian is predeceased by her son Brian Michael Doherty, sisters Geraldine Simoneau, Jacqueline Landry, Judi Swanson and Jocelyn Barry; brothers Richard Houle, George Houle, Norman Houle and her infant brother, Pete Houle; mother-in-law Hazel (Merrill) Strout; and father-in-law attorney James W. Doherty.
Per Vivian's wishes there will be no calling hours.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the VFW, 143 Court Street, Laconia, NH.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Lakes Region VNA & Hospice, 186 Waukewan Street, #6023, Meredith, NH 03253.
