Vivian "Viv" Lavonne McDougall was Born on February 19, 1935, in Staunton, Illinois. She was the only child of Almont and Helen Dougal. In 1953, she married Harold Havlen, embarking on a journey as a devoted United States Air Force spouse for two decades. Their life together was filled with memorable postings in Alaska, England, Arizona, Greece, Japan, Mississippi, and eventually Texas, where Viv made her home for the remainder of her years.
Vivian was the mother of three children: Daughter Vicki Derderian and her husband Michael. Daughter Terry Rogers and her husband Michael. Son Mark Havlen and his wife Sandy
Her legacy lives on through her six grandchildren-Shawn (deceased), Laura, Bryanna, Nicholas, John Michael, and Lindsey-her great-grandchildren Isaac, Claudia, Taylor (deceased), Colleen, and Ryland-& her great-great-grandchildren Jaycen, Jonah, and Paisley.
With a lifelong passion for reading, Viv found joy in working in retail management for bookstores in San Antonio, Texas. She was also very fond of cats, ice cream, and crafting. Her grandchildren affectionately knew her as "GBA"-Grandma Bad Ass-a title she wore with pride and humor.
A breast cancer and stroke survivor, Viv embodied grace and resilience – Even as life tested her, she met each moment with courage, humor, and grit. Viv spent her final days surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and among friends at Trinity Care Center in Round Rock, Texas. Vivian passed peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the age of 90.
Her spirit, strength, and sharp wit will be forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
