Obituary for Vivian Marie Meland
With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, Vivian Marie Meland. Vivian died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 2nd, at the age of 88, in Madison Wisconsin. Vivian was born on January 3rd , 1937 to the late Earl J. and Mary M. (Denruiter) Altizer, in Madison WI. Vivian was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Edward “Eddy” Meland, her mother, Mary Urfer, sister Patty Buchert, and brothers Dennis Altizer and Robert Altizer. Vivian is survived by her brother George (Carol) Altizer.
Vivian and Ed lived most of their marriage in Madison, Wisconsin, and a few years in Neillsville, Wisconsin. Vivian leaves behind 6 children, Richard (Rhonda) Meland, Sandy (Fransico) Castanon, Mary (Jim) Pedersen, Nancy (Scot) Marsh, Wendy (Clyde) Mattie, and the child she chose on her own, Kris (Edward) Heckman.
Vivian also leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Leslie, Melissa, Ryan, Kasandra, Hailey, Lina and Hannah. Also 6 great grandchildren, Sydnee, Ace, Ares, Tate, Lorde, and Finn. Vivian also left behind one great great grandchild Laela.
Vivian had many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Vivian spent her life caring for those around her. She loved her family, and she made sure we were taken care of.
We are finding peace in the fact that she is reunited with Dad. We know she is already playing euchre with Dad and good friend’s Lee and Maureen.
The family would like to thank the amazing Doctors and Nurses at UW Health University Hospital Neuro ICU (B4) unit in Madison for the love they showed to Vivian and all of us. She was able to pass peacefully and with dignity thanks to the care she received.
Services will take place on Wednesday October 8th, at Cress Funeral & Cremation Services, 3325 E. Washington Ave. Madison. Visitation 10-11, the funeral will start at 11am.
