Vivian Scheider

HILLSBOROUGH: Vivian Ferrier Scheider, 81, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2024, at her home in Hillsborough. She was born in Newark, NJ to the late Robert Muir Ferrier MacGuire and Elsie Duncan MacGuire of Glasgow and Aberdeen Scotland. She is preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Scheider; and brother, Robert MacGuire.
Vivian had a comfortable life with her family. She enjoyed travelling, reading, bowling and, in later life, Bocce ball and Mahjong. She grew up in Pompton Plains, NJ and graduated from Pequannock High School. She worked at Monroe Calculating Company in Orange NJ until marrying Jim and moving to Wayne NJ. They built a house and life together in Sussex NJ and conscientiously raised their two children. Vivian cared for her children and parents, moving with Jim's job from Kinnelon NJ to Kennewick WA and then to Charleston WV. Jim and Vivian chose to move to Hilton Head SC in preparation for retirement and stayed for almost 25 years. Vivian recently moved to Hillsborough to be with her son and three of her grandkids where she developed new friendships playing Mahjong. Vivian considered herself a Jersey girl until moving to Hillsborough and realizing how much Hilton Head had become her most loved and longest home.
Mrs. Scheider is survived by her son, Nicholas (Nick) Scheider and his wife Caroline (Carrie Mowry) of Hillsborough; daughter, Victoria Scheider Libertoff of Savannah GA; grandchildren, Cameron Harless of South Charleston, WV, Pierce Libertoff of Hilton Head SC, Noah Scheider, James Scheider, and Lilly Scheider; great-grandchildren, Calian and King Harless; sisters-in-law, Patty MacGuire, Sally MacGuire both of Bakersfield CA and Judy Quant of Southampton, NJ, and several nieces and cousins.
Vivan, with her cheerful personality, will be dearly missed by her family. Vivian had a deep love for her pets. If you wish to make a gift in her memory, please contribute to your local animal shelter, SPCA or APS. A family service will be held on Hilton Head Island on March 2. Her ashes will be scattered at sea as were her husband and parents.
