Von Pettry Obituary
July 26, 1945 – December 2, 2025
Von E. Pettry was born in Ogden, Utah, to Eugene and Avril Pettry. A devoted father, he was blessed with five children - Carrie (Brandon), Michelle (Richard), Todd, Desiree (Zac), and Jaycee (Tim).
On December 22, 2009, Von married the love of his life, Debra Duncan, and lovingly embraced two bonus children, Justin (Crysten) and Sharalynn (Miles). His family continued to grow over the years, and he was incredibly proud of his 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He also shared a close bond with his brother, Trent Pettry.
Von honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a boiler tender during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he built a long and respected career in HVAC at Hill Air Force Base, where he worked until his retirement in 2008.
A man of many passions, Von found joy in drag racing with Jaycee, exploring the outdoors, and especially in gold prospecting and hunting. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, teaching them survival skills, how to play the Native American flute, and how to pan for gold. Passing on knowledge and tradition brought him deep fulfillment, and he created memories that his family will carry forever.
Von will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his quiet strength, and the love he had for his family.
