W. B. “BILL” LYNN, Jr., 98, passed away in his home on Sunday, April 20, 2025, just four days before his 99th birthday.
A native of Troutman, NC, Bill was the son of the late Willie B. Lynn, Sr. and Edith Hartline Bost (Coy). He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. Bill moved to Aiken in 1951 to work at the Savannah River Plant. He retired from the lab in 1984. He often reflected with pride on the fact that he enjoyed retirement longer than he worked.
Bill was a devoted member of South Aiken Baptist Church, serving as church treasurer for six decades, demonstrating his commitment to his faith and community. He cherished his weekly breakfasts with his buddies at Hardee’s which continued as recently as last month. He was also an avid gardener.
Bill dearly missed his beloved wife of 67 years, Ella Mae, who passed away in 2018. He looked forward to reuniting with her in Heaven, along with his only daughter, Brenda Williams, who preceded him in death. Survivors include his granddaughter, Jennifer W. Charnock (Bryan Johnson), Warrenville; son-in-law, Chip Williams, Aiken; great-grandchildren, Brittany Hancock, Dalton Charnock (Samantha), and Rylee Charnock (Trevor Usry); great-great-grandchildren, Laylynn Fabian, Fisher Cabezas, Caleb "CJ" Hancock, Jr., Elayna Hancock and little Parker Kate Charnock who is expected to make her appearance in May. Also surviving is his special furry companion “Rocky”.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning, April 24th beginning at 10 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 o'clock. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
