MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Wade Wesley Stroud, 88, of Calahaln Road, died Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.
He was born on May 7, 1935, in Davie County, to the late Roy and Elizabeth Beck Stroud.
Mr. Stroud was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He attended Ijames Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed hunting and softball. He was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider and had a love for classic cars. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Stroud.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Myrtle Gobble Stroud; three children, Sabrina Linger of Charlotte, Tonya Phillips (Scott) also of Charlotte, and Waylon Stroud of Mocksville; three grandchildren, Kiera Linger, Callie Linger, and Landon Stroud; a sister, Freida Dyson (Wayne) of Mocksville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, January 15, at Ijames Baptist Church with Rev. Kestler Ruth and Rev. Franklin Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.
