Walerian Kipiniak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by C. C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home - Ridgewood on Feb. 10, 2026.
Walerian Kipiniak died on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, with family by his side, just weeks after celebrating his 90th birthday. He passed away in Sarasota, Florida, where he had been living for the last year. He leaves behind his loving wife and partner, Anna, five children, Monica, Magdalena, Christopher, Ania and Adam, and seven grandchildren, Max, Hanna, Adelaide, Dalila, Somer, Alexander and Isla.

Walerian was born in Lwów, Poland on January 27, 1936. He was the son of Adam and Jadwiga Kipiniak (née Gro), and the older brother of Andrew. The family left Poland when Walerian was a young child and lived as refugees in Kazakhstan, Uzbekhistan, Iraq, Scotland and other places before settling in Canada. After graduating from the University of Toronto, came to the United States to pursue his doctorate in electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In the spring of 1966, while living in New Jersey, he met Anna Boguszewska. The two were married on New Year's Eve that year. They moved from his Union City apartment to a home in Englewood Cliffs, before settling in Ridgewood, NJ where they raised their children. Walerian and Anna were married for almost 60 years.

An engineer and entrepreneur, Walerian founded and ran two successful businesses in the computer and semiconductor industries. During a four-year interlude, he owned and ran 7Ks Farm, where he would often help milk the operation's 200 cows. For him, work was about more than making a living. It was a way to have purpose and contribute to the shared project of humanity. He was curious and sensitive with a sincere appreciation for all manifestations of art and culture, an appreciation he shared with his wife and passed it on to his children. He loved to travel and experience new things, was physically active and loved to ski, swim and play tennis as much as he loved to read and play chess. He was extraordinarily generous and humble, and possessed unmatched integrity, which were all informed by his Catholic faith. He took pride in watching his children, and later his grandchildren, learn and grow. To his eternal credit, he himself continued to learn and grow to his final day. He truly loved life and lived it well. He is already missed.

After the services, a repast luncheon will be held Tuesday, January 17 at 12:00 PM at Ravello, East Hanover, NJ. If you are planning on attending please RSVP to [email protected].

Margaret and I share many great memories of Walek .He truly left a an incredible mark on us here during his visits to Canada. Every time he arrived with his children and grandchildren to the cottage by the lake, the atmosphere seemed to brighten. It was clear to us that his greatest joy was his family. We often spoke about the huge impression he left - not just through his presence ,but through the kindness ,wisdom and genuine warmth to anyone he met . He didn´t just visit the family cottage in Canada, he filled with life . Seeing him surrounded by multiple generations was a beautiful testament to the legacy he built. We feel incredibly fortunate to have known him. His presence was a gift and his legacy lives on in the amazing family he built. Wishing all of you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Val was truly a wonderful man. He was so selfless and always willing to help everyone achieve their full potential. I learned so much working with him and it certainly helped me in all aspects of my life. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. You have our most sincere and profound condolences on the loss of such a great man who you were blessed to call your Dad.
