Goldsboro-Wallace Wayne Brooks, 96, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Anderson County, Kansas on August 4, 1926, he was the son of the late Glen Oliver Brooks and Velma Grace Vietje Brooks.
In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Marie Langston Brooks.
Wallace is survived by his daughter, Shari Eason of Goldsboro; son, Timothy Brooks and wife, Annette of Wilmington; grandchildren, Candace Eason and Madison Frye and husband, Adam; great-grandchild, Michael Phillips and wife, Logan and Kyra Holmes; and great-great-grandchild, Chance Lewis.
Wallace proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Air Force having worked in vehicle maintenance.
Wallace was a member of Daniels Chapel Church where he had served as President of the United Methodist Men and led a weekly Bible study.
A graveside service to celebrate Wallace's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Patrick Muston will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Goldsboro Chapter of the American Red Cross, 600 N George St, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
