Walter Dean Bales Jr

Walter Dean "Butch" Bales Jr., 78, of Dover, DE, passed away in his home, surrounded by family, on January 26th, 2026.

Butch was born on December 3, 1947, in Tulsa, OK. He built his life around family, steady work, and a deep loyalty to the people he loved. He carried himself with quiet strength, a dry sense of humor, and a steady presence that those close to him relied upon.

Butch proudly served in the United States Air Force and carried lifelong pride in his service and often spoke with gratitude and honor about his time in uniform.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa Diane Bales and is survived by his sons, Walter Dean Bales III (Shawna) and Calvin Wayne Bales (Denise); his grandchildren, Kaleb, Bethany, Jorden, Sydney, and Garrett; his brother, Floyd Ryan; and his sister, Patsy (William) Perceful; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man who valued commitment, responsibility, and family above all else. His steady presence and faithful character leave a lasting mark on all who knew him.
