CHARLOTTE – Walter "Walt" George Bauer passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the age of 83. He was born and raised in the farming community of Ada, Minnesota, on September 7, 1938.

Walt attended the University of Minnesota and was an active member of the marching band playing his beloved trumpet. He graduated with a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering in 1961. He met his wife, Jane, of 57 years at General Mills in Minneapolis. Walt's successful career spanned 33 years, primarily at Monsanto in Houston and St. Louis.

Upon retirement, Walt and Jane sold real estate in the Houston area. After several years, they moved to Charlotte, where Walt pursued a variety of interests. Walt made beautiful stained glass for friends and family, volunteered at a hospital, sang in a barbershop chorus, attended Community Bible Study, played contract bridge and was actively involved with his family and church. He was a gentle man who never met a stranger, was deeply committed to his faith and family, and guided by integrity and kindness.

Walt is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Katie Morgan and her husband, Kevin; son, Charles Bauer and his wife, Tanya and four grandchildren, Abbey Bauer, Jackson Morgan, Hayden Bauer and Olivia Morgan.

A celebration of Walt's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Southminster Retirement Community. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southminster Community Fund, 8919 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences may be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.
