Walter was a client of mine years ago. His love of students charmingly motivated him. Walter was a good man.
God bless.

Mr Blanchard was my first teacher when i came to the usa from Mexico.
He always made me feel part of the class and would always encourage me to participate.
I wish i had known English then but language wasnt a barrier to him, he sure made an impact im my life, and my brothers too.
Here is a little gift he gave us before my brother left for 6th grade.
Mr. Blanchard, you are a Great teacher. Thankyou!!!!

I was saddened by the news of Walt's passing. On Wednesday, I stopped by the Pinellas Unit of the Boys and Girls Club and took a long overdue tour. I was surprised by how much the sights brought me back to memories of Walt Blanchard. He was everywhere. The bulletin boards all gone, the ones Walt for years had taken the time to fill with Seasonal Colors and big news of the month's activities. The library, once Walt's own private area of generosity, gifts of learning and inspiration scattered wall to wall, is now in the process of reconstruction, as if the room was signaling the loss of its creative leader earlier this year. Walt once wrote to every U.S. College and University in order to populate an entire book shelf with catalogs meant to inspire further education. A true historian, he at times would display detailed recreations of famous civil war battle scenes. He gave so much of himself, all for little gratitude. Most of us visited not for the books and education, but for the basketballs and footballs that routinely soared through the gym. He knew this, but created any way. He taught us much, but mostly he taught us selfless giving. The Boys Club faithful will miss you dearly Walt Blanchard.

I had the honor of representing Walter and his wife, Millie in a case involving the failure of his prosthetic leg.
I was touched by his committed devotion to his students and Pinellas Central Elementary. God bless.

Mr. Blanchard touched my life in a way only amazing teachers can. The one award I kept from my school years was the Little Stinker award he gave me in 5th grade. I will always remember him fondly and be forever thankful for the lessons he taught me.

I will never forget such a wonderful person. It's different not seeing you first thing in the morning at PCE. You are missed dearly. Jenni and family you may be his family by blood, but he is family at Pinellas Central. R.I.P. Mr. B!
