Walter Salvatore Bono

Walter Salvatore Bono, 78, was born on March 24, 1947, in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, and passed away on November 7, 2025, in Covington, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, surrounded by those who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra Silk Bono; his sister, Cynthia Bono; his daughters, Angelena Bono Colson (Michael) and Kara Elisabeth Bono (Ricky Firmin); his stepson, Michael Robichaux; and his grandchildren, Mia Sciacchetano, Roman Colson, Sophia Colson, Emma Firmin, Simon Firmin, and Raven Robichaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Rosalia Cannizzaro and Walter Joseph Bono.
He grew up with the grit and quiet strength that marked every chapter of his life. His roots were Italian, and he carried the pride of that heritage in the way he worked, cared, cooked, and loved. Life didn't make things easy for him. He knew loss, hard years, and more responsibility than one person should ever have to carry. Still, he never stopped showing up.
He worked with his hands and his whole heart-early mornings, long days, no shortcuts. Providing for his family wasn't something he talked about; it was something he lived, day after day, without expecting praise.
He was loyal: to his people, to his work, to his word. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his quick humor, and the way he lit up when talking about his family. He took pride in the ones he raised, the ones he guided, and the ones who stayed close to him through every twist and turn.
His family takes comfort knowing that, after a long and difficult road, he is finally at peace. His strength, his resilience, and the lessons he lived-not just spoke-will continue on through the people he loved most.
A private graveside service will be held to lay him to rest at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery in Covington, Louisiana. His family welcomes relatives and friends to join in celebrating his life at noon on November 14, 2025, at 716 N. Beau Chene Drive, Mandeville, Louisiana 70471.
