Walter Benjamin Chastain, 78, of Sugar Valley, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025. He was born on March 29, 1947, to the late Benjamin and Mary Jane Chastain.
Walter was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved flea markets, wrestling, and his family. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion.
Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Joy Chastain; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Brown and her fiancé, Chris Bucher and his children, Abby and Valeka Bucher; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Pascal Krist; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jenny Barnette; grandchildren, Emily and Richard Carnes; great-grandchild, Anne Carnes; special nephew, Lee Holder; special friends, Buck Edwards, Alvin Massingill, Bill Dempsey, and Brian. Other nieces, nephews, and relatives also survive.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Barnette and Dr. Garry Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Hall Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lee Holder, Chris Holder, Roger Collins, Levi Barnette, Scott Carnes, and Shane Barnette. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Banks and Eddie Smith.
