Walter visited Wales 3 times when he studied at Oxford and took a keen interest in our unique strict metre poetic rules called ` cynghanedd ` at the same time introducing us to Rhodesian poetry . He was a remarkable person . `And to the sun we all will bow , and say good-bye - but just for now ` ( Dylan Thomas ) He will always be remembered in Castell Newydd Emlyn.

So sorry to hear of Walter's Passing, great guy! Walter has been a lifelong friend to our family stretching back to the early 1960's! Many wonderful memories of him and his wife Patsy! You will be missed Walter, RIP!

I met Walter at Kent and Liz´s home in Canandaigua and first I loved his welcoming spirit. You could sit and chat with him for hours and he would tell you about Africa. Bring from Uganda it was so nice to hear his thoughts and life in Africa. I also knew him for giving treats and how well he welcomed Donata to be part of the family. For my children Jonathan especially we shall forever be grateful for those heartfelt hugs from Walter. I know you´re in a better place watching over the entire family. You fought a good race. We shall continue to pray for you and the entire family.

Walter was one of my favorite people at Kodak. He was instrumental in getting my wife (a fellow South African) an expedited naturalization hearing in Buffalo, so she could carry an American passport and avoid trouble with Korean immigration authorities who restricted South Africans as the time. He was kind, gentle, comptent and thorough, a true gentleman.

We enjoyed time with Walter during his stays at Kent and Liz's home. I remember him taking puppy Tillie's training very seriously, and getting the sense that whatever Walter took on as a project, he did with care to do it well, thus leaving a certain signature in his legacy and in his work. He was ever the gentleman and had a warm smile and greeting for us and all the children each time we visited. Rest in peace, Walter.
