Obituary

Walter Chester Mason passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026 at the age

of 81. Walter was preceded in death by his father Floyd Mason and mother,

Lucille Durrah Walls; three siblings, Willie James of Los Angeles, CA,

Geraldine Mason of Milwaukee, WI, and Vesta Mason of Milwaukee, WI.

Walter is survived by his three sons, Resmaa Menakem (Maria) of

Minneapolis, MN, Chris Mason (Laura) of Dallas, TX, Cameron Mason

(Jeanette) of Dallas, TX, and his former spouse, Amanda Coleman of Dallas,

TX. Pops loved all of his family and enjoyed being with his grand and great-

grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory nine grandchildren;

Brittney, Jessica, Amanda, Alexis, Xavier (Haley), Avery, Tezara, Seth and

Addison; his seven great-grandchildren; Alana, Booker, Mi'Lani, Naiem,

Campbell, Laiana, Nia, and a host of nephews, nieces, family members, and

friends.
