Walter Maxwell Obituary

Walter Kenneth Maxwell, 82, of Latrobe, PA, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Walter was born July 23, 1942, to the late William Robert and Nellie (Timms) Maxwell in Homestead, PA. Walter spent 30 years as an over-the-road truck driver, and he worked for Bethlehem Steel. He had a passion for big game hunting and being outdoors for many years. He enjoyed driving and pulling over drawn trucks. Walt enjoyed watching sports. In addition to his parents, Walt was preceded in death by two sisters, Irma Richards and Lois Havrilla; and a brother, Edward Maxwell. He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Gantt Culliver) Maxwell; a daughter, Barbara Przybylski (Robert 'Bob') of North Huntingdon, PA; and a son, Kenneth W. Maxwell of MD; three sisters, Nellie Lucas and Evelyn Verrone, both of Jupiter, FL, and Alice Saitta of Pahrump, NV; and a brother, William Maxwell (Ginny Chomanics) of Elizabeth Township, PA; four grandchildren, Sidney and Tyler Przybylski and Madison and Megan Maxwell; Josephine's two sons, Curtis and Cassius Gantt; three grandchildren, Curtis Jr., Blessing, and Isaiah Gantt; a beloved great-grandson, Bryson Culliver; along with six other great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. On behalf of our family, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation for your compassionate care and services rendered at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital ICU Unit at such a difficult time. As per Walter's wishes, there will be no public visitation. A private celebration of life will be held by the family.
