Walter James McCullough, Jr., affectionally known as "Jabo" or " Uncle Bro", went home to the lord on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023. He was born on June 8th, 1941, in Salisbury, NC to the late Vestina Byrd late biological father, Walter McCullough, Sr. and late stepfather, Jesse Fred Byrd, Sr.
He was educated in the schools of Fairfield County, South Carolina. He served in U.S. army. He was once employed at the Bronx, New York City post office and retired from Naps Brother's in Glastonbury, CT. Uncle Bro lived majority of his adult life in New York and Connecticut with periodic residency in Winnsboro, SC.
Uncle Bro was the world's greatest uncle, he had so many nieces, nephews; grand nieces and nephews, plus great grand nieces and nephews. Truly too many to count, but he had a one-on-one personal relationship with them all. Uncle Bro was a sharp dresser. His passion was cars and music. He once told us he was at a bar in New York and wrote the lyrics to the famous song, "You Sexy Thing (I Believe in Miracles)" but got drunk and 3 college students took his notes, and that song was created after that!!
Uncle Bro loved fixing and building things. Uncle Bro leaves to cherish his memories his son, Trova McCullough and his extended family of Winnsboro, SC; brothers, Jeffrey V. Byrd of Winnsboro, SC, Charles Byrd of Forestville, CT; Jessie F. Byrd, Jr., of New Britain, CT; sister, Ernestine B. Williams of Bristol, CT and another sibling in New York; devoted niece's, Tondra and Tonora of Hartford, CT; nephew, Vincent of Hartford, CT and a host of other nieces, nephews and family members.
Besides his parents and stepfather, Uncle Bro was also predeceased by his brother, Lawrence T. Byrd, Sr.; sisters, Norma J. Jenkins, Annie M. Curlee, Theodosia Curlee from New York; nieces, Cassandra and Trina Curlee; nephews, Wayne Curlee and Roger Jenkins.
Rest easy Uncle Bro until we meet again!!
