Walter was united in marriage to Rose Ridenour, who preceded him in death. From this union they were blessed with three children: daughters Trudy and Rosemary, and son Walter.
He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren-Ashley, Ariel, and Scott-and a loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren: Emery, Emmett, Elfy, Linkin, Jasper, Camille, and Naomi.
Walter grew up in a large and close-knit family alongside his siblings June, Lorene, Norene, Phyllis, and Marjorie. He also cherished the lifelong friendship of his close friends Jerry and Donna Royster.
He had a tremendous love for his horses, especially his beloved Coco, and caring for them brought him great joy throughout his life.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose, his sister June, and his son-in-law David Tate.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, at 10:00 a.m. at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Warrensburg Animal Rescue and may be left in the care of the funeral home.
