Walter Junior Price, lovingly known as “Jr,” passed away peacefully at his home in Bluefield, West Virginia, surrounded by family on October 23, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Jr was born on January 13, 1967, to Walter and Ruby Price. A lifelong resident of Bluefield, he had a big heart and a special love for animals—especially the deer and squirrels that often visited near his home. He worked for many years as a handyman and was well known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.
He is survived by five sisters: Ruth and husband Wayne East, Brenda Price, Linda Price, Alice and husband Paul Rowan, and Amy Price; and three brothers: Jack Price, Anthony Price, and Kenny Price. He is also survived by his niece Lynda and husband Christian Russo; nephews James Ramsey and fiancée Rhiannon Cartwright; and great-nieces and nephews Brayden Ramsey, Kamdyn Russo, and Hudson Russo.
Jr was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruby Price; his brother, Larry Price; and his sister-in-law, Linda Price.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at the CAMC Cancer Center in Beckley, especially Dr. Khanna and Brandy, for giving Jr hope, confidence, and a positive mindset throughout his cancer journey. Deep appreciation is also extended to the nurses at Amedisys Hospice—Michael, Jacob, and Miranda—for their exceptional care, compassion, and dedication, which allowed Jr to pass with dignity and peace.
A combined wake and funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia. The visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM and the funeral at 2:00 with Reverends Roger & Sue Poore officiating.
