My God!!! What horrible news. I was sitting & chatting with wife putting away a double Dewars & blurted out: "I wonder how Walter is". And I run into his obituary. Walter was my 1st boss @ Filenes, Boston when I became a buyer in June '65. I worked for him for 2 fun yrs before moving on in the organization but we always remained friends. I joined up with him again when he was instrumental when Ivey's, Charlotte, N.C. recruited me (Walter was already there as E.V.P.). Again, we both prospered. Over the yrs we travelled Europe together & always had great times. I vividly remember his 1st wife Noreen & the kids (Kent, Kirk & Susie). He lived near us on the North Shore of Boston (W.Peabody/Lynnfield) & again outside of Dallas, Tx.(Preston Woods/Plano) I'm utterly speechless (and very sad).

Walter was an extraordinary gentleman with so many wonderful traits to emulate and wisdom to learn from. His chuckle was to die for. He was a dear friend, a good Bridge player, really enjoyed a libation, and foremost to the benefit of many others a brilliant businessman. His decisions always reflected a strong sense of ethics and concern for his fellow man. As a couple, he and Pat were the best people to be with . . . period. He will be dearly missed.

Blessing and love to Pat and their family.

Walter was our brother-in-law for 22 years. He was a very generous host at many family get togethers. He was a stickler for everyone being on time and I am afraid that was not always abided by. He was a good husband to my sister, Pat, and will be missed. May you rest in peace, Walter. Love you.
