Circumstances drew us apart.
But when we were given a chance
We held each other so close and tight.
When we were together, we made the most of it Dad.
The time given to us was too short for us.
I gave you my best, so I have no regret.
I am proud of you and hope you felt the same way for me too Dad.
You're first born

I always gave you a hug and kiss every chance I have.
I was often asked what that is for.
I gave you a big smile and you asked no more.
The time we spent and time we shared
We were like two children who like to play.
I found a new friend with an 89 year old heart.
Who liked teasing and told me worn-out jokes.
We always had lots of fun and a bit of a laugh.
That's how you described it with your own 4 words.
We held hands together not knowing what to do.
We end up dancing without any tune at all.
Sometimes your gesture surprises me Dad.
Giving me a wink and a flying kiss too.
You' were always so excited to tell me your old stories.
As it just happened a few days ago, I pretend that I never heard it before.
As I knew these memories were parts of you.
You make me happy when I see a smile on your face.
You touched my heart when I heard your laugh.
You made me worried when you looked sad.
But when you asked me for a minute or two, your bright smiles were back.
Please tell me Dad please tell me how,
How can I forget someone like you?
Never, you will always be in my heart

Wally was a good brother-in-law to me and when I was young he helped me find my first car and then some years later another car that needed a new engine. He did the big engine-change-over job and other jobs for me. He was a "Jack of all trades" and could build as well. He was also a good photographer and used to develop and print. He was a very good husband to my sister. Now there is nobody left to help with family history and stories. He did a lot of work on family history and this was taken over by Ron. It was so good to have Ron and Wally visit us here in Brisbane in 2011.

Wally was our neighbour and friend. He loved to tell stories of his family past and in particular tales of his own experiences of home and work-they were never short but always entertaining. He was independent and pigheaded and we loved him for it and we will miss him greatly.

Along with the rest of the “Whitefriars Gang” we will miss Walter and the wonderful stories he would tell. We will also miss the “Brmm Brmm” of his car as he backed out of his garage!!! He was a lovable character who missed his wife terribly and we are sure they are together once more. Rest in Peace Walter.

I am honoured you have called me your daughter.
For the short span of time we knew each other,
We were able to build a strong connection.
Like a good relationship of a father and a daughter,
We shared laughter, tears and secrets.
Thank you for giving me a chance to fill the space of your lonely heart,
And give you the unconditional affection that a father truly deserves from a daughter.
You really meant so much to me and I am still grieving for your lost Dad!
I LOVE YOU!!!
Your caring and loving daughter
