Walter Quiroga Obituary

Walter Roscoe Quiroga passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Born on January 9, 2026, Walter was the beloved son of Christopher and Mary Case Quiroga of Inman, South Carolina.

Affectionately known as "Lil Peanut" or "Lil Hub," Walter was named after his maternal and paternal great-great-grandfathers, Walter Roscoe Shelton and Walter Henry Zitlow, and his maternal grandfather, Thomas Roscoe Shelton. Walter made a seamless transition into the family as everyone was so excited to welcome Baby Boy Walter. He was a happy baby who smiled often and was a great sleeper. Walter's smiles brought much joy to his parents who observed this expression of happiness even while sleeping, leading them to say, "he's chasing rabbits in his sleep."

Walter's favorite activities included spending time with his older sisters and the family dog. He also loved being outdoors in the sunshine and lounging in his favored spot on Mom's lap so that he could be a part of everything that his big sisters were doing. Walter rarely cried other than at bath time of course...which he wasn't a huge fan of yet.

Walter was small but mighty. Although his time on earth was brief, he left an enduring impression on the lives of all who were blessed to have known and loved him. In addition to his parents, Walter is survived by two sisters, Mary Ellis Quiroga and Mollie Mae Quiroga; the family dog, Winnie; loving grandparents, Nancy Gibson, Tom and Lisa Shelton, Debbie Romero and John Quiroga; aunts and uncles, Pam Steppe (Rick), Lori Conway (Chris), Thomas Shelton, Jr. (Jeshua), Brad Larger (Rebecca), Brittany Thomas (Jeff), Daniel Quiroga and Michael Quiroga; as well as many great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins.

A service celebrating Walter's life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, located at 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. Inurnment will follow at the church's columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Music Ministry program at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg.
