Deacon Walter Reese, 77, a beloved member of the community and a dedicated servant of his faith, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, MS. Born on March 1, 1948, in Aberdeen, Monroe County, MS, Walter lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love.
Walter was a respected former butcher at Bryan Foods, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to quality. However, it was his role as a church deacon that brought him the greatest pride and fulfillment. His leadership and guidance within the church community left a lasting impact on many lives and embodied his compassionate spirit.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Deloise Spraggins Reese, who stood by his side through the years. His cherished memories will also be treasured by his 3 sons: Willie Perkins, Garett Lane, and Derrick (Jaqwana) Hogan; 1 god-son: Andrew Johnson; his 5 brothers: Benjamin (Scelah) Reese, Willie D. Reese, David (Cathy) Reese, Terry (Debra) Reese, and Donald Reese; his 5 sisters: Josephine Fuller, Shirley Reese Gathing, Mary Langston, Dorothy (James) Johnson, and Murdies (Larry) Barr; 4 sisters-in-law; Shirley Hogan, Barbara Spraggins, Irma Spraggins, and Claretha Sims; 1 brother-in-law: James Otis Spraggins. Walter's legacy will continue through the love they shared, as well as the cherished memories he created with all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Reese and Neola Walker Reese, who instilled in him the values of service and faith that guided him throughout his life. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Lee P. Reese and Earl Reese; 3 sisters: Linda Reese, Alice Walker, and Bernice Reese.
The community will gather to honor Walter’s life with a Visitation on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Belle Memorial Funeral Home located at 216 Hwy 25 South, PO Box 129, Aberdeen, MS 39730. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Baptist Grove Missionary Baptist Church, situated at 10024 Baptist Grove Road, Prairie, MS 39756..
Walter's warm presence and unwavering faith touched many hearts, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.
