Walter Reed Sheppard affectionately known as "Reed", 74, of Boston, Massachusetts, formerly of Port Royal, SC, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Due to expected Weather, the Celebration of Life will take place at 12 Noon on Tuesday May 23, 2023 in the Sanctuary of Fishers of Men Pentecostal Church, 1311 Congress Street, Beaufort, SC, 29902. (There will be no public viewing held)
Burial with Military Honors will take place at the Beaufort National Cemetery immediately following the Celebration of Life.

He was born August 3, 1948, in Beaufort County, SC, the son of the late Phoebe Ann Sheppard Page and the stepson of the late Nelson R. Paige, Sr.
He was educated in the local public schools of Beaufort County and was a 1967 graduate of the Robert Smalls High School. He proudly served his country honorably in the US Army from March of 1968 to March of 1970 during which her served 11 months in Vietnam. He then served in the Army Reserve until March of 1974.
Reed was employed by the city of Providence, Rhode Island before making Boston, Massachusetts his home. While in Boston, he was employed as a chef as well as by State Street Bank and Trust and retired from PWC Bank.
Reed was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Jacob Paige, Robert Lewis Paige and Raymond Henry Paige and sister, Jenevia Marie Paige.
Those left to cherish fond memories include his siblings, Nelson R. Paige, Jr. (Sandra) of Ft. Pierce, FL, Ann Brown, Larry Paige and Rose M. Paige all of Beaufort and Sherry L. Paige of Norfolk, VA; one uncle, James Washington of Washington, DC; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In light of the continued Covid-19 Pandemic and its variances, and in an effort to keep our staff and the families we are privileged to serve safe, we ask that you wear a Mask or Face Covering when entering the Funeral Home or attending a visitation or service, wherever it might be held. You are also asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing if you visit the family at their homes. It is suggested that before making an in person visit to a family's house that you call first!!!

I cannot tell how much Reed meant to me. He was a noble man and a wonderful friend. He will be very missed and very loved.
