Walter J. Sopata

Walter “Wally� J. Sopata, age 75, of Arbor Vitae, died on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff. He was born on March 16, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the son of Stanley and Anna (nee Rusnarczk) Sopata. Wally married Mary Ann Rosenmeier on May 18, 1963 at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Cicero, IL. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1958 – 1960. Wally worked at Commonwealth Edison Power Plant for 30 plus years. He was an avid fisherman, loved photography and was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. Wally was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Family Catholic Church. Wally is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Arbor Vitae; daughters, Barbara Sopata of Kenosha and Annette Bernhardt of Kenosha and grandchildren, Andie and C.J. He is further survived by other relatives. Wally was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Stanley and Chester. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
