Walter M Stiles

Walter M. Stiles left us on April 5 th. Walter was born in Cobleskill, NY to Myron and Loretta Stiles, who
predeceased him. Walter was a 1961 graduate of Cobleskill Central School. He enlisted in the US Navy
in November 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1969. Walter worked for more than 30 years at
Eastern Heating and Cooling in Albany, NY. A devoted husband, Walter is survived by his wife, Eileen A.
Stiles. He also leaves behind

And five great-grandchildren
Walter was a devoted husband, friend, and confidant. A "go to" man who would not just offer to help,
but would actually do so. His word was his bond. Together with the love of his life, Eileen, they
travelled together all over the world; whether on cruise ships or flying in airplanes.
Walter proudly served the country as a member of the United States Navy. He was a Submarine
Qualified Machinist Mate onboard USS Sea Owl (SS 405) and USS Whale (SSN 638). While onboard the
USS Sea Owl he assisted with after action work of the USS Thresher (SSN 593) tragedy incident.
Walter was a life-long avid New York Yankee fan, who brought his team allegiance with him to Florida.
His love of the Yankees was only surpassed by his passion for cars and all things mechanical.

- If it was broken, Walter could fix it. If it needed to be built, Walter could build it. If he wasn't
physically available to help, he could talk you through the entire process step by step, from
beginning to end
- Proudly passed his mechanical mastery on to his son Walter Jr. especially in heating and air
conditioning to the level that he owns his own successful HVAC company in North Carolina.
Although he was professionally trained by the Navy to serve under the water, he grew to love spending
time on top of the water on cruise ships. He developed a passion for "cruising," especially with his
favorite cruise partner and first mate, Eileen. He loved his time on the high seas and visiting ports mostly
because of the valuable time it afforded him to spend with his family and friends. Walter truly enjoyed
being together with those he loved.
