EUNICE ~ The family of Walter C. Thibodeaux announces his passing on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, June 23, 2025, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard. Burial will follow in the St. Edward Cemetery with Father Korey Lavergne, Celebrant.
Walter was born on July 19, 1937, to the late Clevens and Eve Thibodeaux. A true craftsman at heart, Walter always had a project in progress, especially enjoying his woodworking. Beyond his projects, Walter cherished the simpler joys in life in his past, such as camping and dancing. Walter's time as a school bus driver in Eunice allowed him to connect with countless people and children, leaving an indelible mark on their lives as a caring and dedicated figure.
We have lost a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and most importantly, a friend to all. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his wife, Beatrice Fruge Thibodeaux of Eunice; his children, Timmy J. Thibodeaux and wife, Lynn of Eunice, and Janice Babineaux and husband, Steve of Duralde; his sisters, Ethelene LeDoux of Rayne and Yvonne Bogon and husband, Glenn of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Chad Babineaux, Anthony Babineaux and wife, Dawn, Jake Babineaux and wife, Jennifer, Dane Thibodeaux, Dusty Thibodeaux, Christy Boutin, Johnathan Manuel. Christopher Manuel, Toni Thibodeaux, and Tyler Thibodeaux; his great grandchildren, Kaylee and Evan Babineaux, Cullen, Jolie, Amelie, and Wren Babineaux, Carter, Eli, and Ellie Thibodeaux, William and Avery Hollie, Conner Thibodeaux, Chance, J.J., Spencer, Emily, and Zach Devillier, Annabelle Thibodeaux, Laila Fontenot, Brianna Fontenot, Layni-Jo Boutin, Brailynn Boutin, Nathan Manuel and Rylan Manuel; as well as extended family and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Joyce Thibodeaux; his son, Dean Thibodeaux; and sister, Louise Thibodeaux.
At the request of the family, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, June 22nd from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Monday, June 23rd from 8:00 am until 10:30am. Deacon Chuck Ortego will pray a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
