July 13, 1951 - January 31, 2025
Walter, 73, husband of Robin Viohl passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at his home. He was the son of the late Walter W. and Hester Ray Viohl, Sr.
Wally retired as a 1st Sergeant with the Virginia State Police after more than 35 years of service. He loved spending time outdoors and hunting and was also a member of Kazim Shriners Hospital of Roanoke, the Taylor Masonic Lodge 23, and Scottish Rite.
In addition to his wife of 36 years, Robin; he will be missed and remembered by his daughter, Autumn Viohl; brothers, Robert Viohl and Timothy Viohl; nephews, Zach Viohl and Ben Viohl; sister-in-law, Tracy Harmon; niece, Alexa Harmon; as well as his special friends, Al Mason, Hunter Hepburn, Kenny Garlock, Steve Sullivan, Paul Kruszynski, Dave Tikusis, all of whom were his hunting buddies and, Jerry Smith, who was his long-time friend from the State Patrol.
There will be a gathering of friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kazim Shriners Hospital of Roanoke or the Virginia State Police Association.

Was at his parents home on Rainbow Forest Drive in 1973 the day he received his acceptance letter from VSP. I was his parents MetLife agent. It was a very happy day for the Viohl family.

Wally, was a Good Mason, Shriner and Friend. He was also a good story teller with some interesting on the job occurrences. At 73 he left this life too soon. Know he is in a Better Place and not suffering any more.
