Little Rock & George, Iowa
Walter Vust age 88, of Little Rock, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Sanford Sheldon Care Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, Iowa.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 21st at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, with Pastor Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George.
Arrangements are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, Iowa.
Walter Arthur Vust was born on November 12, 1935, in Ellsworth, Minnesota, the son of Lucas and Jennie (Reemtsma) Vust. He grew up in the Little Rock area and attended and later graduated from the Little Rock Community School.
On May 24, 1957, Walter was united in marriage to Margaret Heibult at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church near George, Iowa. Walter and Margaret adopted two children, Lyle and Marilyn. The couple farmed near Little Rock, Iowa all their married life.
Walter was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, Iowa. His hobbies included fishing, watching baseball, and collecting Allis Chalmers Tractors.
Walter is survived by his two children, Lyle (wife, Kari) Vust of Sheldon, Iowa, and Marilyn Ahrendt of Lester, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Kellie (husband, Jacob) Crowl of Bentonville, Arkansas, Nicholas Vust of Sheldon, Iowa, Alexander (wife, Ashley) Vust of St. Charles, Iowa, Samuel Vust of Sheldon, Iowa, Alicia Ahrendt of Inwood, Iowa, Kaitlynn (husband, Jesse) Van Beek of Inwood, Iowa, Cody (wife, Ashley) Ahrendt of Inwood, Iowa, and Landon Pottebaum of Lester, Iowa; eleven great-grandchildren, Harlo, Dylan, and Prim Crowl, Paizley Vust, Zaylie Norris, Chanley, Kennedy, Hartley, and Rory Ahrendt, Raelynn, and Cora Van Beek; brother, Louis (wife, Joann) Vust of Little Rock, Iowa; sister-in-law, Margaret Heibult of Sheldon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucas and Jennie Vust; wife, Margaret Vust; brothers, Jake, and Fred Vust; sisters, Fern (husband, Lyle) Popkes, Ruth (husband, Ervin) Backer, June Vust, and Mary Klaassen; in-laws, Herman (wife Frances) Heibult, Florence (husband, Elmer) Brink, Jean Heibult, and Franklin Heibult.
