Walter Wald

Walter Wald, 89, of Huntley Illinois passed away on October 7, 2025. Walter was born on September 15, 1936 to Mathias and Martha Wlachovsky in Dobsina, Czechoslovakia.
Walter lived in Hamburg, Germany and Toronto, Canada before finally settling in Chicago, Illinois.
He married his loving wife Carmela Lina Rosa in 1966 in Chicago.
He later raised his family in Itasca, Illinois.
Walter was known for his strong work ethic. His inner drive was unmatched. He retired from a long and rewarding career at Auto Truck where he mentored many.
Retirement was short lived, Walter went on to work until the age of 87 helping his sons with the family landscaping business. Once he set his mind to it, there was nothing that Walter could not fix!
He always cared for others before himself. Walter appreciated the simple things in life. He was passionate about sailing, and owned a sailboat, Walina, which he raced on Lake Michigan.
He enjoyed playing chess and watching his son's race motocross.
Walter is survived by Lina, his wife of 58 years;
three children Thomas (Tammy), David (Christina) and Steven (Christina);
six grandchildren, Amanda, Kali (Cody), Maddyx, Payton, Nicholas and Mason; one great grandchild Beau; and his brother William (Gaynel).
He has two nieces Kara (David) and Amanda (Jason). Walter was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Helmut (Brunhilde) and Peter (Anna).
Visitation will be at DeFiore Funeral Home in Huntley, IL on Monday October 13th from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Funeral Service at DeFiore Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m.
Interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Hampshire, IL.
