I just found about Walter's passing three weeks ago from his good friend Tom Winnicki. Needless to say, I was shocked and saddened. I just saw him at our reunion last May, gave him a hug and he told me he was feeling better and gaining weight. Evidently, things did not go his way. Walter was a quiet kind of guy, very nice to be around and was one to laugh. Again, my condolences go out to his children and grandchildren.

My deepest condolences to Walter's family, I was not aware of Walter's passing until today. Played football with Walter thru out high school and will always remember his passion for the sport. I was glad to see Walter at our last two Hillside High reunions. Sad to hear he is no longer with us. RIP my friend!

I was a volunteer at Norwescap for over 10 years. I reported my hours verbally to Wally each month. He always asked about the two women I work with and patiently listened when I needed to vent about one of them. I was devastated to learn of his death the beginning of May when I could not reach his office exchange. I wish I had know so I could have attended the visitation in Lake Hiawatha. My sympathy and prayers to his family. Lee Maddocks

Wally was a caring and dedicated member of Norwescap's AmeriCorps*Seniors (formerly RSVP) team. Always kind, he brought his caring nature to our senior volunteers and they participants they served. Wally will be greatly missed here at Norwescap. Our heart goes out to his family.
