Walter Zinser Obituary
Walt was a graduate and drum major for the Reading High School Class of 1970. He received his associate degree from Tri State College in 1972. For over 20 years, Walt worked as a mechanical engineer at Aero Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, and later Addison Products in Addison, Michigan. He also enjoyed farming and was the owner of Zinser Construction for 25 years. Walt was a longtime and devoted member of the Hillsdale County Fair Board, serving for nearly 40 years. While serving on the Fair Board, he founded the photography department and Walt's Donut Hut, and he built the Nichols Bandshell. He also served as 4-H leader, teaching leather craft. Walt was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsdale and former director of the Reading Emergency Unit.
In addition to his wife, Ann Zinser of Reading, Walt is survived by two children, John Zinser of Litchfield, and Maria Zinser of Litchfield; one granddaughter, Dakota Oakes; two stepchildren, Kristi (Ross) Bradbury of Oak Harbor, Ohio, and Chad (Michele) Harmon of Allen; two step-grandchildren, Emma Bradbury, and Halley Harmon; and one sister, Esther Wigent of Reading.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eileen Rohlf, and Rose Rowe; and two brothers in infancy, John, and Roland Zinser.
Funeral services for Walt Zinser will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsdale with Rev. Sean Willman officiating. Family interment will take place at Saint Stephens Lutheran Cemetery in Defiance, Ohio. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home - George White Chapel in Reading.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Beyond Angel Care or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
