Wanda Fay Baker, age 90, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Wanda was born on July 5, 1935 in Beeville, Texas to M.R. and Willie Mae (Gray) McWhorter. She married James William Baker, Jr. on July 3, 1953 in Portland, Texas. She worked as an insurance agent and office manager for Bradford Insurance Agency for many years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Kerry Baker and wife Jan of Sweetwater, Texas; her daughter, Darla Dornbusch of Sweetwater, Texas; grandchildren, J.W. Baker and wife Vonda, Dustin Baker, Chad Dornbusch and wife Lacey, Kendra Dornbusch, and Ashley Adames and husband Justin; great grandchildren, Avery Adames, Blake Adames, Emma Holden, Sawyer Dornbusch, Watson James Dornbusch, Rachel Thompson, Colson Thompson, and Cayden Thompson; brother, Jerry McWhorter and wife Corkey of Mathis, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, M. R. and Willie Mae McWhorter, and husband James William Baker, Jr.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Baker, Dustin Baker, Chad Dornbusch, Justin Adames, Michael Romine and Kendra Dornbusch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Monte McWhorter and Blake Adames.
