Wanda Butler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boren-Conner Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Dec. 3, 2025.
Wanda Jean (Work) Butler, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, December 1, 2025, with her daughter by her side. A Funeral Ceremony will be held on Friday afternoon, December 5, 2025, at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Texas, to begin at 2:00pm. A visitation will begin at 1:00pm prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at McDonald Cemetery in New Summerfield, Texas.

Born on November 26, 1939, Wanda lived a life marked by devotion to her family, hard work, and enduring love. On December 13, 1955, she married the love of her life, Arnold Ray Butler. Together they built a family that was the center of their world, filled with joy, laughter, and resilience. Their two daughters were their greatest treasures. The love she had for her daughters was endless, and her dogs were cherished just as deeply. To Wanda, each dog she owned was far more than a pet, they were companions, confidants, and cherished members of the family who filled her home with comfort, enjoyment, and unwavering loyalty. She loved dogs with her whole heart, and they loved her just as deeply in return. She was, without a doubt, the greatest Elvis Presley fan anyone had ever known. His voice often filled her home, she knew every lyric and watched every movie many, many times.

Wanda retired from Baxter International in 2001 after 21 years of dedicated service. She was a member of and attended New Summerfield Baptist Church until 2005, when she moved to Seagoville, Texas, to be closer to her loved ones. In December 2018, she transitioned to Kaufman Healthcare Center, where she was cared for with kindness and compassion in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Ray Butler; her daughter, Patricia Givans; her parents, Thelma and Clarence Work; and her sisters, Glenda Harris and Gwen Meyer.

She is survived by her daughter, Daphne Ridgle and husband Dean of Crandall, TX; granddaughters Kristy Cochran and husband Mike of Kingwood, TX, and Ashley Ridgle and finance Jimmy Swink of Crandall, TX; grandsons Jamie Ridgle and wife Laura of Wylie, TX, and David Givans and wife Brittany of Crosby, TX; great-grandsons Lucas Ridgle of Crandall, TX, JJ Givans of Crosby, TX, Brandon Cochran and Grant Cochran of Kingwood, TX; great-granddaughters Peyton Givans of Crosby, TX, Paxton Ridgle and Lexi Ridgle of Wylie, TX and Addison Swink of Crandall, TX; brother-in-law Gene Meyer of Katy, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

Wanda's legacy is one of love, strength, and family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to those she held dear, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of everyone around her.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Ridgle, David Givans, Mike Cochran, Jeff Burk, Jim Givans and Kenneth Key.
