Wanda Nichols Doolittle went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2025. A funeral service will be
held at Breeland Funeral Home in
Canton, Mississippi on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Visitation
will begin at 10:00 am with the service following at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Canton
Cemetery.
Wanda was a native of
Canton, Mississippi, growing up in a loving family of parents,
grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. She graduated from Canton High School in 1939. She
attended the University of Mississippi and married Thomas Albert Doolittle on October 8, 1944,
upon his return from active duty.
Wanda's greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered as Gaga, a loving and caring
mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Albert Doolittle, her parents, Vernon and
Virginia McKie Nichols, her brother Vernon Nichols, Jr, sister Mary Virginia Phillips, sister-in-law
Sara Dunning Nichols, brother-in-law Logan Phillips, Sr, son-in-law Riley Kelley and daughter-
in-law Hazel Levon Doolittle.
She is survived by three children, Janis (Richard) Edmonson of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Thomas
"Tommy" Doolittle, Jr. of Madison, Mississippi and Joan Kelley of St John's, Florida. She also
leaves 11 grandchildren: Ashley (Mark) Willson, Owen (John) Stratton and McKie (Jennifer)
Edmonson all of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Avery Edmonson of Madison, Mississippi, Jeff Wilson
of Brandon, Mississippi, Lea (Jason) Miller and Robin (Mike) Covington of Madison, Mississippi,
Tad (Danielle) Doolittle of Terry, Mississippi, Ryan Kelley of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Neely
Kelley of St. John's, Florida and Wesley Clock of Apex, North Carolina. Additionally, she leaves
17 great-grandchildren: Dray, Turner and Annalee Willson, Malon and Reeves Stratton, Kendall,
Aubrey and Coleman Edmonson, Ty and Hayes Miller, Dylan Doolittle, Sarah and MJ
Covington, Maxwell Kelley, Nichols Phillips, Avery Kelley, and Mac Clock. She is also survived
by numerous nieces and nephews.
Wanda was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Homebuilders Sunday School
class, UMW and PATH. Wanda volunteered at the Methodist Rehabilitation Center in the Gift
Shop for many years.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of The Blake at Township, AccentCare
Hospice, and Linda Robinson for their loving care over the past seven years.
