Wanda Overton

Wanda Jean Overton, 90, longtime area resident passed away peacefully Thursday morning, November 9, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society in Liberal, Kansas.
The daughter of Everett and Ruby Lee (Cobb) Eisenman, Wanda was born February 11, 1933 in Pocasset, Oklahoma. The family was engaged in farming in her early childhood days and later moved to the Perryton, Texas area, where Wanda attended school.
Wanda and Floyd L. Rattler were married and they had two children. Wanda and Roy C. Overton were married on September 9, 1960 in Perryton and had two children. Wanda was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She worked hard over the years helping Roy with their hay baling business and driving the countryside checking on cattle and land. Roy preceded her in death on October 11, 2000. She also enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandkids and their events. Wanda was known as momma, granny and Wanda Jean. She was a member of the Victory Family Church in Perryton and was always happy to pitch in with her cooking skills to help out. She was known for her pecan pie and homemade biscuits.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Rattler; grandson, Michael Pierce and three brothers: Bobby, Tommy and David Eisenman.
Survivors include four children: Martha Pierce and husband, Tippy of Moore, Oklahoma, Gary Rattler of Perryton, Texas, Sheila Carver of Crane, Missouri and Kim Overton and wife, Tammy of Amarillo, Texas; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; three brothers: Jimmy Eisenman and wife, Janet of Saginaw, Texas, Jessie Eisenman and wife, Bonnie of Ft. Worth, Texas and Leroy Eisenman of Perryton, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A mother's love is the first gift we know and one we won't outgrow! We Love and miss you, momma. May you rest in peace.
A celebration of Wanda's life will be held Saturday afternoon, December 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartville Cemetery, southeast of Hardesty with Rev. Marlon Sparks officiating. Memorials in Wanda's name can be made to Good Samaritan Society – Liberal or to the Perryton Memorial Hospital.
