Wanda Shelton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 2, 2025.
Wanda Lee Williams, Kelley, Shelton of Harker Heights, TX., passed away on November 17, 2025, at her home in Harker Heights, TX.

Wanda was born in Holland, TX to Frank and Mabel Williams on April 14, 1940. She went to Temple High School and graduated in 1958. Wanda spent most of her life in Temple, where she met and married Ronald "Ron" Shelton.

Wanda enjoyed numerous activities, such as reading. If one were to look at her collection of books, they would soon learn that James Patterson was one of her favorite authors. Ron has stated that she probably has every book that Patterson ever wrote. In addition to reading, Wanda enjoyed bingo and slot machines. Of course, Wanda wanted to win, but professed that if she could just win enough to keep playing - she would be happy. After playing bingo at a local VFW or playing the slots in Oklahoma or Louisiana, one did not have to ask if she won or lost. You automatically knew if she lost when she stated, "I'm never going back."

Wanda was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad; siblings Jerry Williams and Linda Young; grandson, Dillion Kelley; and step-grandson, Tanner Tatum.

Those family and friends who remain to honor her memory are as follows: husband, Ron Shelton, of Harker Heights, her daughters Melissa DeUnger, of Friendwood, TX; Pamela and Rocky Vail, of Santa Fe, TX; Laura Kelley of Flat, TX; Step-children Ronald Shelton Jr. and his Wife, Leighann, of Shawnee, OK; Corina Youngblood and Her husband Danny, of the Tampa FL. area; and Cory and Jennifer Shelton, of Prosper, TX. Additionally, Wanda has a sister, Mildred Mathis of Temple, numerous nieces and nephews, seven (7) grandchildren, twenty (20) great-grandchildren and seven (7) great, great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Lake Belton VFW Post 10377, 4 Woodland Trail, Belton, TX., on Saturday December 13, 2025, at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.
