Wanda Smith Obituary

Wanda Lou Smith

Miss Wanda Lou Smith, age 87, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living. Miss Smith was born in Surry County on June 4, 1938, to the late Merritt Smith and Alline Childress Smith. Wanda attended a special school in New York, as well as, homeschool. In her spare time, Wanda could be found doing what she loved most, working crossword puzzles, and playing Chinese checkers where she was quite the pro. She loved to cross stitch and embroider, making her prized pieces, table cloths. Wanda was a faithful member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, where she enjoyed reading the Bible and was a close follower of Christ. Wanda was a true angel on earth and loved by many. Left to cherish her memories are her sister and brother-in-law, Betsy Smith Lloyd and Mike; brother, Mike Smith and fiancée Denise Attardo; several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Wanda's life was held Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with Chaplin Brian Chilton officiating. Burial followed at Oakdale Cemetery. The family receivde friends on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 12:00 PM until time of the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Smith family.
