Wanda Stacy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cotner Funeral Home on Feb. 17, 2026.
Wanda Lee Stacy, 88, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026.
Born on May 7, 1937, in the hills of West Virginia to the late Alvin and Mabel Hatfield, Wanda was raised with deep Appalachian roots and proud heritage as a descendant of the legendary Hatfield family. She graduated from Baileysville High School, carrying with her the grit, resilience, and unmistakable mountain spirit that would define her life. Strong-willed, quick-witted, and never one to be overlooked, Wanda was, in every sense of the word, a pistol.
Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Kenneth Stacy. Their marriage was a remarkable testament to loyalty, devotion, and enduring love. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and steadfast commitment.
She retired from General Motors after many dedicated years of service. Wanda took pride in her work and in contributing to a generation that helped shape an era of American industry.
She is survived by her loving children, Kenton Stacy (Javier Lara) and Pam (Bob) Merion. Her greatest joy was her family. She adored her grandchildren, Jordan (Johnathan) Rawlins and Devon (Colton) Atkinson, and treasured her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jentry Rawlins, and Weston and Wrenlee Atkinson. Each of them carried a special place in her heart.
Wanda is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, and aunts, along with her special and closest sister, Linda (Larry) Bryant, whose bond with Wanda was one of deep love, laughter, and lifelong friendship and Wanda's niece Amy, who was a special part of her life for many years.
Wanda's personality filled a room. She had a sharp sense of humor, a stubborn streak that matched her strength, and a fierce loyalty to those she loved. In her final years, dementia slowly stole pieces of the woman we knew, robbing her family of precious time and shared memories. Yet even as the disease took its toll, it could never erase the love she gave or the legacy she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wanda's name to the Alzheimer's Association https://donorservices.alz.org/ in honor of her courageous journey. A celebration of life will be held in late spring/early summer, with the date to be determined.
Her mountain spirit lives on in the generations that follow her. She was fiercely loved, and she will be deeply missed.
