Wanda Mae Stanley, 75, of Indianapolis passed away August 10, 2025, in her home. She was born to Kenneth and Carolyn Carpenter (nee Teter) on August 1, 1950, in Elwood, Indiana. On January 28, 1971, she married the love of her life, J Stanley. Together they raised one daughter, Heather.

Wanda loved travelling. She and J travelled around the world. Her fondest memories abroad were of Italy, Austria, and England. Wanda also loved Disney World and Frankenmuth, Michigan where she, J and Heather made several trips. Of all the places travelled, Hawaii was her absolute favorite.

Wanda was a very social person and was an active participant in many organizations such as her Grief Support Group sponsored by Community North, the Blind Lunch Bunch, the American Council of the Blind (Circle City Chapter) and the Women’s Department Club.

In addition to travel, Wanda was an avid music and movie fan. She and J attended many concerts over the years. Anyone entering her home could expect to hear music and it was usually from a radio station out of Hawaii.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Bob Carpenter. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Stanley of Marion Indiana; her stepson Patrick Murphy (Ami) of Pensacola, Florida; Four grandchildren; her sister, Teri Carpenter (Pam) of Carmel, Indiana; brother, Richard of Lafayette, Indiana.

The family invites friends to a visitation from 10-11 a.m., on August 15th, 2025, at John Knox Presbyterian Church at 3000 N. High School Road in Indianapolis. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. to honor Wanda’s life. Wanda’s burial will take place at a later date at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Council of the Blind.

Sunny skies, light breezes, beautiful beaches, and clear waters, Wanda. We will see you on the other side.
