It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Stephens, who departed this life peacefully on July 20, 2025, just weeks shy of her 96th birthday. Surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 22, 1929 in Pomerene, Arizona, to Wayne and Priscilla Hamblin McNeil. As the eldest of 4 daughters, Wanda had lifelong best friends in her sisters and was blessed with an aunt only two years older than her as another bonus sister. She attended Benson High School and met her husband of 39 years at that time. She and her sweetheart, Archie Hall had three beautiful children, Kathryn, Erline, and Gary who they raised in Safford. A few years after Archie's death in 1987, Wanda married Bill Stephens and gained his two children, Cheryl and Billy. Wanda lived a long, meaningful life marked by grace, strength, and unwavering love for her family and the Savior Jesus Christ. Over nearly a century, she witnessed and embraced a changing world with curiosity and resilience, always leading with a kind heart and generous spirit.
Wanda was known for her deep compassion, quiet wisdom, and the gentle way she touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Whether through her warm presence, her thoughtful words, or the meals she lovingly prepared and many, many family gatherings, Wanda made those around her feel seen, heard, and cherished. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, perseverance, and love. Wanda has five children, twenty-one grandchildren, sixty-one great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren - some who are with her in Heaven and many left behind here who will be missing her dearly.
Funeral services for Wanda will be conducted Saturday morning, July 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Pima Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop Tom Pursley of the Central First Ward. Concluding services will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning, July 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., at the Pima Stake Center Relief Society Room of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
