Wanda T. Vess

Wanda Thomason Vess, age 83, of Florence, died Sunday, March 15, 2026. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, March 18, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The graveside funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Barton Cemetery. David Conley will officiate.

Mrs. Vess was born on September 15, 1942 to Woodroe and Maggie Olive Thomason. She was retired from Food World where she worked as a baker. A member of the church of Christ, Mrs. Vess was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Vess was preceded in death by her father, Woodroe Thomason; mother, Maggie Olive Burns; step-father, Clyde Burns; brother, Woody Thomason; paternal grandparents, Luke and Callie Thomason; and maternal grandparents, Willie and Ella Olive.

Mrs. Vess will be missed the most by her loving husband of sixty-five years, Lee Ray Vess, Sr.; children, Ray Vess (Cheryl), and Donna Landis (Ronald); sisters, Glenda Thomason Johnson, and Nancy Burns Bynon (Tommy); sister-in-law, Dot Wigginton (Doug); grandchildren, Kristi Larrimore (Stephen) and Lee Landis (Tara); great-grandchildren, Somer Landis, Ellie Landis, and Myleigh Larrimore; and her devoted pet, Oscar.

Pallbearers include Jason Reed, Doug Wigginton, Doug Jones, Lee Landis, Stephen Larrimore, and Shane Vess.

The family gratefully acknowledges the kind compassionate care offered by the staff of Preferred Hospice and the staff of Florence Nursing and Rehab.
